Structural and Mineral Exploration in the North-Central Part of Nigeria Using Airborne Magnetic Data

Aeromagnetic data was analysed and used to delineate the structural features. These structural features include; lineaments, faults and folds which are channels for the accumulation of solid minerals were delineated with a trend of NE, NW, and SW direction. In delineating these structural features, some enhancement techniques such as first and second vertical derivative filters, Tilt derivative filter, analytical signal and CET were employed to enhance the structural features. The Residual Magnetic Intensity (RMI) map showed regions of different magnetic concentration which correspond to different lithology and depth of source rock with magnetic values range from -93.5 nT to 95.4 nT. The high magnetic signature occupied mostly the north-eastern and south- western part, corresponding to Akwanga, N/Eggon Keffi, Garaku and others.
