Narrow diameter implants: Literature trends

Abstract:

Although narrow-diameter implants (NDI) are commonly used for replacement of bone augmentation procedures, they are not considered a replacement for standard procedures yet. This review presentation aims to analyze the literature on the survival of these implants (NDI) in comparison with standard diameter implants (SDI) to come up with a set of guidelines and/or recommendation for their use. Narrow diameter implants (NDI) were classified into Category 1 (ID= less than 2.5), Category 2 (ID= between 2.5 and 3.3), and Category 3 (ID= between 3.5 and 3.3). This journey will explore the literature and dive into the clinical facts to reach out a reasonable conclusion on the survival rate of Narrow diameter implants.

Biography :

Mohammad M Al Ghafli received his bachelor’s degree (DDS) from the University of Jordan in 2009, then he joined the Saudi Ministry of Health, where he completed a higher specialization degree in advanced restorative dentistry (SBRD). As a result, he obtained a clinical doctorate degree in 2016. He also completed the subspecialty in dental implants (SFDI) in 2020 from Saudi commission for health specialties. Currently, he works in specialized Dental Center in Al-Ahsa region located in eastern province of Saudi Arabia, where he is the head of the Restorative department, and he is a certified trainer for residents of the Saudi Specialty Certificate in Restorative Dentistry.
