Dr. K. Srikanth is Postdoctoral Researcher at Centre for Environment and Marine Studies (CESAM) & Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro, Portugal. He received his Ph.D degree from Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, CSIR (Pedestal work Station), Hyderabad, India. Initially he joined as a Postdoctoral researcher at Andong National University, South Korea (2010-2011). In 2012 KS joined CESAM, UA, where he had initiated the cell culture laboratory with special emphasis on the hepatocytes, gill and brain cells of Anguilla Anguilla, European eel.At UA he had collaboration with American, South Korean and Indian universities in both brain research, molecular biology, health and environmental sciences research groups with very good outputs.
My research interests are in molecular and environmental toxicology, aquatic toxicology, biomonitoring and physiology. Current research in our lab is focused on toxicity screening approaches for engineered nano-materials in particular on oxidative stress responses. We perform in vitro experiments for this purpose using different model cell lines. Characterization of different nanomaterials and their cytotoxicity evaluation forms a critical part of our study as these biomarkers are used for further analysis and linking them toxicological endpoints.
