Joana Raimundo
Marine Biologist, Department of Environmental Oceanography and Bioprospection
IPMA-Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere, Portugal
I graduated in Marine Biology (2000), hold a MSc in Marine Sciences (2003) and a PhD in Biochemistry (2010). I have worked in several research projects and under-contract programs at IPMA, mainly related with bioaccumulation processes and its relation with the aquatic environment. As a result, 42 articles in international peer review journals and a book chapter were published. In 2010, I was invited to work for 3 years on a FP7 European Project as a postdoc in several topics of marine sciences. This participation gave me an overview of the marine science from an international perspective. In 2012, I participated in the Portuguese initial assessment for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), with two descriptors concerning contaminants (D8 and D9). The obtained scientific background allowed me to receive a post-doctoral research grant. In 2014 I integrated the ICES group for the biologic responses to contaminants (WGBEC) as a national member.
