Biography

I completed my degree in Occupational Therapy at the Health School of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESTSP-IPP), where I was awarded with the Best Student Award of 2014. In 2013, I started to collaborate with the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Laboratory (LabRP-ESTSP/FPCEUP) as a Junior Researcher, working on projects regarding exergaming and virtual reality for the rehabilitation, active and inclusive citizenship in Europe, among others. In 2014, I was hired as an Assistant Teacher for the Occupational Therapy Department at ESTSP-IPP and together with the LabRP I began collaborating in several projects related to psychiatry, neurosciences and psychosocial rehabilitation. In 2015, I started to work at Associação Nova Aurora, a non-profit organization which provides rehabilitation services to patients with psychiatric disorders. In the institution I started another of my main research interests, developing community based projects to reduced social stigma on mental illness which have been awarded and financed by the Porto City Hall and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Currently, I?m completing my Masters in Psychiatry and Mental Health in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro where I am researching the cognitive, behavioral and neuroplastic effects off exercise, transcranial direct-current stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation on patients with psychiatric disorders.
