He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies from UPM. As an academician for more than 14 years in UPM and 18 years as a researcher, he has been active in teaching and doing research since his first degree. He has supervised more than 74 undergraduates and 30 postgraduate students (as a Chairman and Member of Supervisory Committee) in the fields of ecotoxicology, environmental biology, environmental sciences, water quality and ecotoxicological genetics.
