Among these disorders, conditions that involve the pancreas, such as cystic fibrosis and other pancreatic insufficiencies, have particularly far- reaching consequences. The pancreas, a central organ in both digestion and blood glucose regulation, plays a crucial role in supporting normal daily activities and overall health. The pancreas has a dual role in the body. Its endocrine function produces hormones such as insulin and glucagon that help maintain stable blood sugar levels, while its exocrine function secretes digestive enzymes that break down proteins, fats and carbohydrates for absorption. When persistent disorders interfere with these functions, individuals must integrate medical management into nearly every aspect of daily life. Blood sugar regulation and enzyme supplementation often dictate the timing of meals, physical activity and even social engagements, influencing routines from childhood through adulthood.
