Abstract:

Background/Introduction : SARS Coronavirus 2 or COVID-19 has so far caused close to 4 million deaths globally and 600,000 deaths in the most populated country outside of Asia, USA. Over 180 million people globally have been infected so far. Almost 98% of those who were infected cleared the virus confirming that infection due to COVID is curable and 100% of those presumed cured have cleared the virus. A significant proportion of those who cleared COVID have persistent and lingering symptoms ranging from fatigue to suicidal tendencies due to tormenting conditions like tinnitus. Understanding of the progression and rehabilitation requirements are critical in developing optimal standard of medical care during and post COVID infection for those who were hospitalized due to serious COVID illness. The case of a Virologist that will be discussed in detail is just one in millions but it is unique because the chances of survival post COVID were zero to none because of the age factor being a baby boomer, underlying conditions like diabetes and hypertension, the outcome was survival and almost 100% recovery because of the optimal health care received similar to the Trump care and Boris care that was received following testing positive for COVID. Aims/Objectives : To share the science of COVID prevention, care, rehabilitation, follow up and long-term post COVID monitoring for detection of any lingering post-COVID symptoms. Method : A ton of laboratory medical records including X-rays have become available following emergency care after testing positive for COVID and rehabilitation following clearance of COVID as well as follow up of COVID specific antibody levels and long-term care. Results : The Virologist with serious underlying conditions after receiving world class care from some of the best doctors and nurses has had full recovery of the lungs and other vital organs but with 100% brain function recovery remains to be achieved. Conclusion : The examination of massive quantity of medical records of a patient who had severe illness following COVID exposure contributes to a better understanding of how COVID infections progress and cause an unprecedented illness could assist in generating guidelines on how to treat COVID or COVID like illness in which factors beyond the viral multiplication can cause serious illness or death.
