Biography

Dr. Laishram R. Singh is presently working as an Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi. He obtained his Doctoral Degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. After receiving Doctoral degree in protein Biochemistry, Dr. Singh continued his postdoctoral research at Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC), Philadelphia, USA where he worked on homocystinuria and other birth defects. One of his major contribution in research involves the discovery that proteosome inhibitors or small molecule chaperones could be used for the treatment of birth defects as these agents have the ability to alleviate mutant protein functions. Currently Dr. Singh?s research group is interested in developing strategies to remove toxic protein deposits in neuronal cells and cardiomyocytes using proteostatic modulators and small molecule compounds. In another project his laboratory is also interested in using proteostatic modulators for the therapeautic intervention of leukemia. Dr. Singh is a well-known enzymologist and protein biochemist with more than 15 years of research experience. He has published more than 40 publications in many esteemed journals in the field of proteostatic regulation and protein modification by homocysteine and other aldehydic compounds. He has also authored several chapters in many books published by Springer, InTech and Elsevier etc. Dr. Singh is also a chief editor and co-editor of many books. He is also an active reviewer and Editorial Board member of several journals. He has guided several Postdoctoral, Doctoral and Masters students.
