Biography

As a clinician-educator, I find teaching and mentoring dental students and periodontal residents to be challenging and fulfilling. I have been involved in dental education for more than 20 years. Born and raised in Taiwan, I was matriculated into China Medical University?s School of Dentistry from which I received my D.D.S. degree in 1986. I completed my specialty training at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine, where I received a Ph.D. degree in Oral Biology and certificate in Periodontics in 1997. Immediately afterward, I moved back to my native country, Taiwan, and became a full time faculty member at China Medical University. In 2001, I was appointed as the Dean of the School of Dentistry at China Medical University. In 2007, I accepted a faculty position at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where I was appointed as a clinical associate professor in the Division of Periodontology. I became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and was appointed as the Director of Predoctoral Periodontal Education in the Division of Periodontology in 2009.
