Jose Machado is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Informatics of the University of Minho, in Braga, Portugal, where he has been since 1988. He got his PhD in Informatics, in 2002, and habilitation in 2011. He is former Director of the Computer Science and Technology Center (in Portuguese CCTC) and he is now Associate Director of Centro ALGORITMI and the former coordinator of the research line on Computer Science and Technology of Centro ALGORITMI. His research interests span the domain of Knowledge Engineering, Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence. He is the author of over 280 papers in international books, journals and conference proceedings.
