Research Interest

Embarked upon a research programme which is result in an MD, entitiled: "Evaluation of Cytokines and Adhesion Molecules in Thyroid Diseases in Children ". This new project grew from personal reading and subsequent in-depth literature review. It has required retrieval of medical notes of known patients as well as searching for new cases. I have established contacts with various laboratories in order to carry out evaluations of adhesion molecules (sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, sP-selectin, sL-selectin) and cytokines (sIL-6R, IL-6, IL-8, IL-12,IL-15). I completed the doctorate in June 2001 and have already presented preliminary findings at various local and international meetings, the most important being at 38th Annual Meeting for the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (29 August-1 September, 1999 Warsaw, Poland) and Europaediatrics 2000 (16-21 March. Rome. Italy).
