Abstract

The concerns of a gynecologist practicing in a low-income country

The job of a gynecologist goes beyond taking care of pregnant women and helping them deliver babies; it deals directly or indirectly with all stages of procreation right from the compatibility of the parents, through the mother’s biological capacity for handling the gestation period, to the child’s medical nurture into independent adulthood. This study was to determine concerns of a gynecology practicing in a low-income country.

A self-administered questionnaire was used to obtain information on their challenges concerning their gynecological conditions and complications there with visa vis the patient’s financial situation. 

This study exposed these challenges as it affected the average gynecologist and his patients. This study took Nigeria as a close case study as the country is a developing country with an estimated population of about 200 million people, most of whom are living below the poverty benchmark of 2 Dollars per day.

Biography:

Michael Adeoluwa Bashorun has completed his MBBS from University if Yaoundé1 and his Residency Training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, (assisted reproductive technology specialists) University College Hospital, Yaoundé. Master Training in Reproductive Medicine/ IVF with IBC/NUH. Master training is ultrasonography, Gulf-coast Ultrasound Institute. He is the chief Medical Director Lead City University Hospital adjoint lecturer department of Medical science Lead City University. Founder/CMD LIKEMINDS FETAL HOSPITAL. He has published more than 25 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute journals.
