Abstract

A Three Species Ecosystem Comprising of Two Predators competing for a Prey

K. Shiva Reddy and N. Ch. Pattabhi Ramacharyulu

This paper deals with an investigation on a three species ecosystem consisting of a prey (S1), two predators (S2) and (S3) surviving on the same prey (S1). The mathematical model equations constitute a set of three first order non-linear simultaneous differential equations in N1, N2 and N3, the population densities of S1, S2 and S3 respectively. All possible equilibrium points of the model are identified. Local and global stabilities are discussed by using Routh-Hurwitz criteria and Lyapunov function respectively, and also the results are verified by numerical examples
