Patient Safety

Patient Safety is a healthcare discipline which emphasizes the reporting, analysis and prevention of medical error. Adverse events in the health care occur not because health care professionals are intentionally harming patients, but rather due to the complexity of health care systems, where successful treatments and outcomes mostly depend on many factors in addition to the competence of the health care professionals.

Patient Safety Goals Includes- Identify patients correctly Improve effective communication Improve the safety of high-alert medications Ensure correct-site, correct-procedure, correct-patient surgery Reduce the risk of health care-associated infections Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls.
